Acer is announcing five new notebooks directed at schools now, comprising four Chromebooks and a single Windows convertible. Two of those Chromebooks are Intel-based convertibles, using displays that spin round to turn them into notebooks, whereas the other two attribute a more traditional layout and are powered with Arm-based chips. All five notebooks are made to be durable, together with spill-resistant keyboards and parts analyzed to MIL-STD 810H military strength criteria.
Both convertible Chromebooks would be the Acer Twist 512 and Twist 511. They are powered by Intel chips (especially the N4500 and N5100). The Twist 511 includes a 11.6-inch HD 16:9 screen, while the Twist 512 includes a 12-inch HD+ 3:2 screen.
Both the Twist 512 and Twist 511 have antimicrobial scratch-resistant screens, but the Twist 512 additionally comes with a comparable antimicrobial coating onto its own computer keyboard and touchpad. The Twist 512 begins at $429.99 ($399), although the Twist 511 is a bit cheaper at $399.99 ($369).
Next up would be the 11-inch Arm-based Chromebook 511 and Chromebook 311, which likewise have lasting designs. The 511 is powered with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c chip, features 4G LTE connectivity and will go for as many as 20 hours on a charge. The 311 includes a Mediatek MT8183 chip and runs for as many as 20 hours on a charge. The 311 starts this month in North America and is priced beginning at $299.99, while the 511 is arriving in April beginning at $399.99.
Ultimately, there is a $329.99 ($409) Windows notebook, the TravelMate Twist B3. Additionally, it contains a durable keyboard that could turn around to turn the notebook into a tablet computer, and can be powered by around a Intel Pentium Silver chip with up to 12 hours of battery life. The Twist B3 is accompanied by an antimicrobial display as standard, and also the alternative of owning a similar coating onto its computer keyboard and touchpad. The notebook will start in North America in April, and Europe at a certain stage in Q2.
