Reportedly, All-new 2020 iPhones will support 5G network

Gone are the days when we used to search for a reliable phone which would at least support 3G network. With the 4G in the house, there has been a drastic uplift in the field with all the mobile companies designing phones to support 4G network. This was 5 years back. Now, 5G is about to enter the market and the mobile companies are already in the preparation of the war. Reportedly, Apple has announced that the 3 new models of iPhones which are scheduled to release in 2020, would be supporting 5G network. By far, Apple is the first company to develop 5G phones in the market.

Ming-Chi Kuo, the chief analyst of Apple, said last month that the company would be releasing iPhones of 5.4 inch and 6.7-inch, which can be otherwise known as the successor of iPhone XS and XS Max respectively, which would support 5G cellular data. The third model would be a cheap one of 6.1 inches which can be said to be the successor of iPhone XR and would be able to support LTE networks. With the Intel modem business in full power, the company would have more resources to support 5G networks.

The phones would be having the same price as that in the respective series, the only difference is that these phones would be having 5G baseband modems ad OLED displays. The Intel acquisition also means the company would soon be switching from Qualcomm, latest by 2021. Kuo, the chief analyst, says that the phones would be supporting the sub-6GHz version and not the mmWave version, which is said to offer more speed. The reason being that, the phones are in the experimenting phase and so are the 5G networks currently available due to which the company does not want to risk anything.

“The key is that consumers will think that 5G is the necessary unction in 2H20. Therefore, iPhone models which will be sold at higher prices have to support 5G for winning more subsidies from mobile operators and consumers purchase intention,” says Kuo. In simple language, we can decipher that for the users who want to use 5G network would have to pay more for the phone that would be supporting the 5G network.

Apart from the news of the creation of 5G phones from Apple, the company has another news in-stored for us. The company is meanwhile creating an iPhone with a Touch ID sensor built in the screen and this model is being specifically made for the markets in China. The exact date of the launch of the iPhone is not yet known but this specific model is made to work on the sub-6GHz spectrum and would be at a lower price. According to reports, Apple is currently working on inventing phones at affordable prices. These phones are said to be released soon and also they won’t be having OLED display and 5G modem.

For now, we can say that Apple has already entered the field of 5G phones and would soon be having more competitors if once the 5G network experiment is successful.
