Brand new graphics card, AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT is steppin’ into the light on August 11, 2021 for $379. It is a 1080p addition based on the RDNA 2 architecture built for high FPS AAA gaming. The RDNA 2 architecture of this is same as its previous RX 6000 series model, RX 6700 XT. But it costs more ($479) as it is designed for 1440p gaming with 12GB of video memory. Where RX 6600 XT is exclusively designed for 1080p gaming with 8GB of video memory and is way cheaper than the RX 6700 XT.

Compared to AMD’s 5000-series cards, the FPS (frames per second) rates is improved in this new card. Also, for titles like Doom Eternal and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, AMD claims that it is faster than the Nvidia’s card RTX 3060. For example, in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Nvidia RTX 3060 hit 69 fps and AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT hit 92 fps on an average. Similarly in Doom Eternal, RTX 3060 hit 134 fps and RX 6600 XT hit 155 fps. On an average AMD cards performance is 15% faster than the RTX 3060 (which costs $329).

Though the price is more than its competitor, it has some pros to talk about; like FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) which allows gamers to increase the resolution above 1080p. Means, for AAA titles like Battlefield 5 or Cyberpunk 2077, RX 6600 XT provides high frame rates at both 1080p with maximum settings and 1440p with the help of FSR mode. AMD built this new card keeping the ongoing GPU shortage in mind. It clearly mentioned that it is not for the gamers who are using latest GPU but for the people who are using outdated ones.

AMD makes its new graphics card RX 6600 XT available from August 11, 2021 via desktop makers Acer, HP, and Alienware. It also supplies to its partners Asus, ASRock, Biostar, MSI, Gigabyte, Sapphire, PowerColor, Yeston, and XFX. However, there might be a problem regarding its availability as AMD spokesperson says, “We are doing our best to get supply, but the demand is unprecedented.”

In conclusion, it is the best choice for 1080p gaming but many netizens are dissatisfied with its price as the competitor is providing the similar card for less price. Though it claims that RX 6600 XT performs well, the netizens are not satisfied with the price of $379 for this level of gaming. Previously, when the Nvidia’s card released most of the users commented that it is not budget friendly. Now, this AMD card is going to come with more price than that of Nvidia’s card for 1080p gaming. This disappointed the people much, irrespective of the specifications and features it is offering. Let’s hope for any updates on price change by the time of launch!
