Apple has made an announcement regarding the free service that the company is going to give to the users of iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. The reason for this sudden offer is that Apple observed an issue in the 6S series which might led the device not being able to switch on. As per the latest news sources, the compartment which is responsible for this flaw is not yet known and neither is Apple disclosing much about the flaw.
The users which are eligible for the free service should have bought the iPhone 6S or the iPhone 6S Plus between October 2018 and August 2019. The phones manufactured in the above mentioned time period are only eligible for the free service.
How to know whether your iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus is eligible for the free service? Go to settings, click on General and then on About. After that, copy the serial number and paste it on the official website of the company to check for the eligibility criteria.
The users can take the affected or concerned device to nearest Apple store and get the advantage of free service, though for doing that one would need to have an appointment. Those who do not have the privilege of having an Apple Store nearby, can apply for the service through the online website. The company would send a mail service, requiring the user to send the device to the Apple Repair Center, which would be returned after the repairing has been done. If the user has extra defects like a broken screen or battery issues, then the Apple Repair Center would also solve that, but it would cost the customers as the offer is only made for the replacement of the compartment which has led to the issue of the device not being able to switch on.
Apart from that, the users who have already faced the issue and have repaired the device with their own money can also get a refund from Apple. All one has to do is contact the customer care and give the details of the billing and the model serial number after which the refund would be processed.
Apple discovered the flaw a bit late and to make it up for that, it decided to give this offer to the users. The owners of the affected device would get the advantage of the free service and would even have a guarantee up to 2021, which solely depends on the date of manufacture of the iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus.
Moreover, the compartment causing the trouble has not been spoken of by Apple, which even gives a hint that the flaw might have occurred due to some mistake in the manufacturing process which the company clearly wants to hide. Leaving that aside, getting a free service from Apple is great news and those who have the benefit should not miss it at any cost.
