Apple is willing to reopen five of its stores in the mainland of China. They are reopening the stores with limited opening hours. The timings are from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm as per the local time. The timings will be continued upto at least the 19th of this month. The five Bejing Stores are Apple Mall China, Xidan Joy City, Sanlitun, Chaoyang Joy City, and Wangfujing. As per the information on Apple’s website, the limited timing may continue upto February 20.
The monstrous Coronavirus, officially known as COVID-19, has taken away the lives of more than 1,300 members and also exceeded the count of 60,000 cases worldwide. Even Apple is not resistant to the ripple effect of Coronavirus. Cook announced earlier this month, saying that the Chinese government extended the new year holiday break from the end of January to February 10 due to eruption of the Coronavirus. On February 8, they announced that they are extending the closure of stores.
The Coronavirus not only took away many lives in China but also created a great economic loss to China. The Wuhan region, where the Virus First emerged have suppliers of the iPhone company. The iPhone manufacturers have substitute sources for those components. Cook also stated that “working on mitigation plans to make up any expected production loss.”
The COVID-19 has a negative effect on Apple as one of the main manufacturing partners Foxconn has resumed the operations with lack of labor. Already there is a pending of 45 million AirPods orders in China. The manufacturers stated that they are waiting for the suppliers to resume the work. They stated that the supply is paused due to the shortage of labor and material.
Apple issued an intensified cleaning guide to its authorized service providers, retail stores, and partners, saying that the demo products must be cleaned at least twice a day. This is a good initiative taken by apple to reduce the further spread of the virus.
Not only Apple But also several other stores in China stopped functioning because of this epidemic. The leading international companies like Star bucks and Mcdonalds also paused their services in China. Loreal also paused its services, and the CEO stated that the virus “will certainly have an impact in the weeks to come.” The Yum China, which operates a food chain of Pizza Hut, KFC, and Taco Bell, stated that more than 30% of the restaurants in China are closed because of the virus. South Korean automaker Hyundai also Held back its services in China because of the microbe. Many airlines temporarily waived their services to the mainland of China. Some analysts also stated that this epidemic would also affect tourism in china.
So the Outbreak of the microbe had totally shaken up the tech sector. The companies which don’t have any offices in China are limiting their employees from unnecessary travels. The greatest Trade event MWC is also canceled because of this virus.
