Honor, a smartphone maker brand owned by Huawei Technologies, is launching its very first rugged smartwatch. Known as the Watch GS Pro, this smartwatch is being displayed at the IFA trade show in Berlin. Along with the Watch GS Pro, there is also a new smartwatch being displayed. Known as the Watch ES, this one coincides with the latest fashion standards.
The Honor Pad 6 and the Pad X6 Android tablets are getting launched in places outside China. Likewise, Honor has also released three laptops that have the latest generation of AMD made Ryzen processors embedded within them. Again, these are yet to release in China.
According to Honor, the Watch GS Pro is made rugged to such an extent that it satisfies at least 14 of the US Military’s MIL-STD-810G procurement standards. This smartwatch has been tested to check if it can work in extreme temperature environments (high and low temperatures). The smartwatch has also been verified to see if it can sustain in conditions of rain, humidity, and also low pressures at very high altitudes.
For people who think about why testing to this extent is required, it is worthy to note here that the smartwatch can be used to track the activities during high-intensity exercises such as skiing on the slopes and mountain climbing, cycling as well as swimming. Thus, the device should be able to function smoothly during such times. The smartwatch is equipped with over 100 workout modes.
Huawei’s LiteOS operating system is powering the Watch GS Pro. It has a tracking system embedded within itself to monitor the state’s blood-oxygen levels, sleep, and stress levels. Some other characteristics exhibited by this device include providing weather alerts.
The device has also been designed to be compatible with the GPS and GLONASS satellite positioning systems. A ‘route-back’ mode also exists within the smartwatch that tracks the user’s route and guides him back to the destination correctly.
Watch GS Pro Specifications
The OLED display panel of the smartwatch measures about 1.39 inches. It has a resolution of about 454×454 pixels. The Watch GS Pro contains a Kirin A1 chipset that enables its functioning. Its battery has been designed such that it can work upto 25 days at a stretch. However, in outdoor workout mode with GPS activated, the battery life is down to just 100 hours or even 48 hours.
The smartwatch would be coming in three colors – black, blue, and white. It would be arriving in the UK, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France markets starting September 7 onwards. The Watch GS Pro would cost €249.99.
Compared to the Watch GS Pro, the Watch ES is more stylish in terms of its looks. However, it has a battery life that can last only up to 10 days max, and this one is not as rugged compared to the Watch GS Pro. However, it is lighter in weight. The Watch ES also consists of 95 workout modes.
