McDonald’s seating area shut down at corporate-owned restaurants

Mc Donald’s seating area shut down at corporate-owned restaurants.

Owing to the Coronavirus outbreak that has taken the entire world by storm, many cities and countries across the globe are headed towards a complete lock down. Although the virus initially originated in China, currently it has spread over many countries. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the COVID-19 virus to be a pandemic. And to control the spread of the virus, the US too is taking some very stringent measures like canceling visas to the countries badly affected by the said virus and also asking people to remain at home and avoid crowded places.

It is pretty obvious that during such circumstances wherein the entire city or country is heading towards a complete shutdown, restaurants too would have to bear the brunt. And exactly due to this situation, we hear that Mc Donald’s is closing down its dining areas at all its corporate-owned restaurants. This step has been taken owing to the growing concerns related to the Coronavirus pandemic. The remaining outlets across the country, which function in about 93% of all the locations, might also follow suit.

The company stated on Monday, saying that “Our independent franchisees continue to focus on the needs of their local communities and make safe and caring decisions. Franchisees are strongly encouraged to adopt similar operations and procedures while keeping the needs of their people and communities at the center of their decisions. This guidance is supported by franchisee leadership and is expected to be adopted by the majority of franchisees.”

Having stated the above, the company further added that although the corporate-based restaurants would be shutting down their respective dining areas. The facilities of the drive-thru, walk-in, take-out, and delivery would still be present, and as of now and there would be no restrictions on these services.

McDonald’s also plans to down shutters all its Play Places that are located within the whole of America.

The firm stated that as the entire country is grappling with efforts in a bid to contain the virus, the eatery organization has put the safety of its people and communities at the highest priority. McDonald’s further stated that all of their decisions were taken with the aid of expert local and national health authority guidance. Such decisions require their help. In addition to all these precautions, the company stated that they are following all restrictions that are imposed on all local as well as state restaurants, wherever required.

On Tuesday, Dunkin (DNKN), the well-known donuts outlet, also made a statement that it was adopting similar measures at almost all of its franchisees in the whole of the United States. The famous donuts chain stated that it would be limiting its working hours by keeping the restaurant open for a limited time during a day. At the same time, the dining section would be shut down at all of its outlets. Similar to what Mc Donald’s has adopted, Dunkin also plans to continue its carry-out or drive-through services as usual.

Well, let us all sincerely hope that all of these are temporary measures, and the world would pretty soon get rid of this novel Coronavirus
