The native Apple Podcasts app is all set to get integrated within Porsche’s Taycan infotainment system. With this, the vehicle owners can access and enjoy about 1.5 million shows that are a part of Apple’s huge library. The drivers would have to simply access the touchscreen display present within the Porsche Advanced Cockpit. The enormous list consists of programs and shows in over 100 languages. Apart from this, vehicle owners would be able to view Top Charts for various shows and their episodes.
Porsche has also notified that Taycan owners would also be able to check on the Apple podcasts. Not only this, the car’s infotainment system would be compatible with Apple Music’s lyrics feature. These lyrics would be available on display in front of the passenger side. With this feature, users would explore, search, and even sing songs from the wide range of available playlists.
Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG, went on to say, “The Taycan embodies the pioneering spirit of Porsche – as the first all-electric car from Zuffenhausen. It sets benchmarks within the context of digitalization and sustainability – and this also applies to the interior. The new Apple Music and Apple Podcast offerings expand the emotional driving experience with the Taycan with a seamlessly integrated digital feature for music lovers. There is more to come.”
Oliver Schusser, Vice President of Apple Music, Beats, and International Content, stated, “A great podcast can make any drive more enjoyable. With Apple Podcasts, drivers can effortlessly catch up on the latest news, hear incredible stories and enjoy the company of their favorite hosts. And with Apple Music, passengers can easily sing along to their favorite songs with Time-Synced Lyrics.”
All of the above features have been made available in new Taycan cars for now. They will be arriving with existing Taycan’s too, albeit in January.
Earlier, Apple Podcasts made their way to Taycan’s infotainment unit via the Apple CarPlay app. However, this is for the first time that a native Apple app has come within the electric vehicle’s infotainment system. And since this one is a native app, there is no need to connect a phone to listen to music. Also, Apple Music’s lyrics feature has been made possible now after the native app came into existence. Earlier, this was not present while making use of the CarPlay app.
In other words, the app can process music streaming with the aid of the data connection that exists within the vehicle. At this point, it is worth mentioning that people purchasing the car are liable to receive data that lasts for about three years.
Apart from viewing all the shows listed within the enormous Apple library, the owners of the electric vehicle would be able to coordinate the Apple podcasts with other devices. However, for this purpose, they would have to make use of their Apple ID. Porsche’s Voice Assistant would be responsible for the voice.
Last year, the Apple Music app arrived within Porsche’s electric car. It makes the Apple Podcasts app the second such app that has arrived as an in-built app with Porsche’s Taycan. There might be more hard luck for Android users over here since Taycan is not yet compatible with Android Auto. Sometime during the beginning of this year, Google offered support to Porsche by updating its infotainment system for classic cars.
