OnePlus finally became a TV company. From the past few months, there is hype among the people regarding the launch of OnePlus TV. Now, it came real with the announcement of a new OnePlus 55-inch TV. It is simply called as OnePlus TV Q1. It is using the software Android TV as a base with streamlined OxygenOS on the top. This is a 55-inch model which features 4K HDR-capable QLED VA panel. Just like many other TV models out in the market, it is not using the OLED panel which is a quite interesting point in this Q1.
OnePlus says it has a “sleek minimalist design” with a “nearly bezel-less screen.” So it’s a TV, then.
The company has not yet revealed much technical info about this new TV. But as per the sources available, this OnePlus TV Q1 offers quantum dot color. Also, it supports both HDR10+ and Dobly Vision. To offer real-time scene optimization, it also supports the OnePlus Gamma Color Magic Chipset. Not only that, but this Q1 is also going to be great in sound as it comes with a 50-watt Eight-speaker system. Regarding this, OnePlus is saying that you will get a “surreal surround sound experience” through the support of Dolby Atmos. When the TV is in use, the speaker bar will lower down from the bottom of the TV and if it is not in use, the bar will rise back into the TV’s body. Interesting right!
There is a Pro model, ‘OnePlus TV Q1 Pro’ which comes with two tweeters, two woofers, four full-range speakers making it a total of eight speakers. While the OnePlus TV Q1 comes with just four speakers.
Despite its design, OnePlus TV even has the smartphone-centric features. Means, for more advanced features in TV, you can use the OnePlus Connect mobile app. This OnePlus TV works with both Alexa and Google Assistant. Recently, Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus showed the remote where there is a cover on the backside that reveals all the usual connectivity ports of the TV.
As of now, this OnePlus TV Q1 is launching in India only. As there is a big share of the phone market for OnePlus in India, we can say that it launched its first TV in India to transfer that brand equity across the living room. There is no statement yet regarding the launch date in other countries.
Last month, CEO Pete Lau said that “We are also working hard to launch OnePlus TV in North America, Europe, and China regions as soon as we establish partnerships with most of the local and regional content providers.”
Coming to the price of OnePlus TV Q1 55-inch model, it is priced at INR 69,900 which is nearly $1,000 and OnePlus Q1 Pro which comes with a motorized soundbar is priced at INR 99,900 that is nearly $1,400. Even if it releases the OnePlus TV in other countries like America, China, Europe or other we can except the price around this range. However, there is no official announcement yet on when and at what price the TV will be sold elsewhere.
