Sometime during this week itself, rumors floated around stating that Xiaomi would be launching its flagship device within the Redmi series developed over the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform. It now looks like this device could very likely be the Redmi K40 Pro, a successor to the Redmi K30 Pro. Most probably, this would arrive during the first quarter of 2021.
Xiaomi would also be bringing in the Snapdragon. However, this would be a little different than its Pro version, as it would be aided by the Snapdragon 7-series SoC processors, while the Pro versions would be running over the newly announced Snapdragon 8-series Soc processors. All of this information surfaced during the previous leaks.
Images of the device have surfaced online. These images reveal that the Redmi will not be sporting a pop-up selfie camera, unlike its antecedents, the Redmi K20 Pro and the Redmi K30 Pro, both of which came up along with a selfie camera that popped up. Rather, the latest phone would have a punch-hole selfie camera. The phone display would be sporting this punch-hole at its top-left portion, within which the selfie camera would be housed.
The detail regarding the punch-hole camera was confirmed by a tipster named Sudhanshu Ambhore, who managed to get hold of a few images of the device. Ironically, discussions regarding the punch-hole camera feature surrounding the Redmi K40 Pro have been mentioned on many social media networks for quite a few months.
The Redmi K40 Pro images were leaked sometime during the last month also. Those images revealed the device to be equipped with an OLED panel that would be flat. The size of the punch-hole was estimated to be about 3.7mm. When the Redmi K30 Pro arrived, it was observed that it had a refresh rate of just 60Hz, which was the only drawback for the device. The upcoming Redmi K40 Pro would be coming with a very good refresh rate, as reported during the previous month. The flagship phone’s refresh rate could be touching anywhere up to 90Hz, 120Hz, or perhaps, even 144Hz.
The Snapdragon 888 mobile platform would be responsible for the high-level performance of the phone. That is expected to be present around the helm of the phone. The mobile platform is expected to boost the charging rate of the device and would promote fast-charging. The Redmi K20 Pro and K30 Pro phones also would not charge as fast as the Redmi K40 Pro. The Redmi K40 Pro would also be equipped with a 4500mAh battery. It is also expected to house an SM8350 chipset. Furthermore, the frequency of the LCD panel of the device would be 120Hz.
The company is expected to officially notify everyone regarding the Redmi K40 Pro sometime during the end of this year or sometime during the beginning of 2021.
Redmi is also expected to launch the Redmi K40 sometime during the end of December. Most likely, this device would be working over the platform of Qualcomm Snapdragon 775 SoC.
Xiaomi has also confirmed that its upcoming Mi 11 would be powered by the Snapdragon 888 processor.
