As it is quite well-known, Samsung Electronics is one of the world leaders in the field of advanced memory technology. And going by the same lines, it has made an announcement that the firm has started producing the 16-gigabyte (GB) LPDDR5 DRAM package in enormous amounts. An important point to be noted here is that this would be the entire industry’s first-ever 16 GB memory package that has ever been made. Prior to this, there was a bulk production of the industry’s first 12GB LPDDR5 back in July 2019.
The 16 GB memory advancement in the field of mobile technology is expected to reach one of the greatest heights in the entire mobile market. It would come with a lot of added capacity that would support enhanced 5G and AI features. This would also be inclusive of games with high-quality graphics as well as smart photography. It is expected to be the memory package for the upcoming generation that would be having the latest smartphones.

Features of the latest 16GB LPDDR5 DRAM
The 16 GB LPDDR5 mobile DRAM package of Samsung is made up of eight chips of 12-gigabit (Gb) each and about four chips of 8-gigabit (Gb) each. This means that in the future, premium smartphones would consist of double the DRAM capacity that is usually found in many of the higher-end laptops and gaming PCs as on today. It would also be equipped with super-fast performance. The 16 GB memory package seems ideal for game lovers as it is supportive of the dynamic and responsive game-play. It would also help the premium smartphones in attaining ultra-high-resolution graphics which are suitable for an amazing as well as memorable game experiences.
Presently, Samsung is in the process of producing large quantities of LPDDR5 mobile DRAM packages at its Pyeongtaek site. At the same time, the firm also plans to build 16Gb LPDDR5 products that are based on the third-generation 10nm-class (1z) process technology. Again, these would be produced in bulk. This plan is likely to shape up sometime during the second half of this year. This 16 Gb mass production would be done parallelly along with the development of a 6,400Mb/s chipset.
As Samsung is continuously moving towards such innovative technology ideas, one can only expect the company to become a strong competitor in the entire mobile technology market. It looks like it would indefinitely carve a niche for itself when it comes to making premium mobile devices, high-end PCs and automotive applications.
