Sony’s Xperia 5 II is all set to launch soon. This smartphone would be coming up with better photography and video features. If it can be recollected, Sony launched the Xperia 1 II a couple of months ago, which is quite tall and costlier than it should be. Sony Xperia 5 can be considered a sibling to the Xperia 1 II, although this newer phone comes with better qualities and features. Moreover, it is much cheaper compared to Sony Xperia 1 II. Sony’s latest smartphone is expected to arrive onboard on September 29 for $949. However, one of Sony’s latest phone features is that the screen’s refresh rate is 120Hz.
However, Strangely, Sony has stated that it would be shipping this phone no earlier than December 4. Another weird point here is that Sony has said that although the phone would be coming with 5G, it is not compatible with the 5G networks in the US. Sony Xperia 1 II also has this issue.
Sony Xperia 5 II comes with a tall screen having an aspect ratio of 21:9. However, even then, the phone is quite small and measures 6.1 inches. Its width is about 2.68 inches. Unlike Xperia 1 II, this one can be feasibly accommodated into one’s pockets.
Sony Xperia 5 II comes with a Snapdragon 865 processor, a battery having a power of 4000 mAh, and of course, a screen having a refresh rate of 120 Hz, as stated above. Apart from all of these, Sony is also bringing about two front-facing speakers and the classic headphone jack. Currently, both of these fall in the category of endangered species. Sadly, this phone does not have a wireless charging feature.
As far as this device’s cameras are concerned, the Sony Xperia 5 II comes with the standard triple camera array on its rear. These cameras come with a focal length of 16mm, 24mm, and 70mm, respectively. Their focal lengths have been designed as per Sony’s 35mm equivalents.
Sony also says that this could be the first-ever smartphone to record a slow-motion video at 120FPS in 4K HDR. The most notable feature of Xperia cameras is its autofocus feature and photo clicking speed. Sony Xperia 5 II comes with an autofocus speed of about 60 times per second. It also has a burst shooting feature with a capacity of 20fps.
Sony Xperia 5 II can work as a direct tethered upload machine for Sony’s latest mirrorless cameras. It can work quite faster than the WiFi solutions coming on modern cameras.
There is something more than all of the features listed above. Sony has brought about a game enhancer mode widely available on many phones now, but this one brings many useful features.
The screen’s refresh rate, motion blur, and touch response speed of the display can be adjusted and fixed directly by the user. The device also consists of a power bypass feature, wherein the phone can be set to gain power directly from a USB-C cable, without any need to charge its battery. Owing to this feature, the phone’s heat comes down to a great extent, thereby prompting better silicon functioning within the device. A graphene heat sink has also been embedded within the device to reduce its internal heat.
Sony Xperia 5 II seems to be coming up with its own set of pros and cons. However, for photography lovers, this may be a good device to own. Further details, if at all any, regarding Sony Xperia 5 II will be known by the time it arrives in December.
