Elon Musk wins the defamation filed against him for calling Vernon Unsworth a “pedo guy” through tweet

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX has won the defamation suit, which was filed against him for his “pedo guy” tweet. The suit was filed against him by Vernon Unsworth, a British cave Explorer and he filed a lawsuit against Mush for calling him a “pedo guy”. The Los Angeles Federal Court jury rejected their $190 million dollar claim and cleared all charges against Mush on Friday.

According to sources, Vernon Unsworth filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, in September 2018. This was because Musk tweeted about Vernon in which he called him a “sus” and “pedo guy” back in the summer of 2018. Musk also mailed Buzzfeed reporter Ryan Mac that Unsworth is a “child rapist”. And also tweeted, “Don’t you think it’s strange he hasn’t sued me?“ You can also say that he practically himself requested for a lawsuit to be filed against him by Unsworth.

The trial started earlier this week, and it went for a week. And on the last day, just after an hour, the verdict was declared that Vernon did not defame the opponent that is Unsworth. After the verdict was declared, Musk said, “My faith in humanity is restored.“ But, Musk, in his testimony, did apologize Unsworth and said, “He did not believe that the cave explorer was a pedophile.“

And Musk and his entire defense team were led by Alex Spiro, an attorney. Spiro argued that the word “pedo guy “is meant to be simply heated rhetoric. And it is definitely not meant as defamation of his reputation. He said that it is a slang or a colleague term for “a creepy old guy”. Spiro also argued that the “pedo guy” did no harm to his respect, and Unsworth is just simply looking a payday in court.

If you dig deep, the fight between these two began a year ago. Unsworth firstly criticized Musk as he involved himself in the rescue of 12 boys and their soccer coach from the cave, which was totally flooded in Thailand in 2018. Actually, Musk builds a machine that will be used to rescue people stuck in flood. Musk labeled the machine mini-submarine or escape pod. He tweeted, “Mini-sub arriving in about 17 hours. Hopefully, useful. If not, perhaps it will be in a future situation.“

The device which was released was not at all used in the rescue process. But, Musk told his employees to ask the Thai Government officials to still say good things about his device and lie that the Mini-sub was very useful in the rescue process. But, however, the rescue was a success due to the knowledge of the Unsworth about the caves helped greatly to rescue the 12 boys and their coach out of the flooded caves. Unsworth is majorly praised, and it is said that he was the leader of the rescue team.

And the fight began when Unsworth said negatively about his Mini-sub machine when asked about it in a CNN interview. He said Musk could “stick his submarine where it hurts” and said it could be seen as “just a PR stunt.” This was the reason for Musk tweeting about Unsworth that he is a “pedo guy“ and so.

However, this lawsuit is the first-ever filed by a private individual to go to trial. So this can be seen as a major lawsuit that too for just over a tweet. And Unsworth attorney L. Lin Wood said that Musk is a “liar” and also called him the billionaire bully,” just standing a few steps away from the Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX. He added that by calling Unsworth a “pedo guy,” Musk “dropped a nuclear bomb on Vernon Unsworth “as there are more than tens of millions of followers in Musk’s account. And this would cause a major problem for the reputation of the individual that is Unsworth. Wood made these as an emotional appeal on the court.

Musk attorney but strongly argued at the end that the tweet made by Musk that is “pedo guy“ was just an insult and nothing more and added that Unsworth fails to tell or show the evidence for his damage. He just simply uses this case and asks the court for money and nothing more. However, the court cleared the lawsuit filed against him and rejected the claim of $190 million at the end of today’s trial.
