A couple of days ago, during the yearly tech-summit event, Qualcomm announced that it would be bringing the Snapdragon 888 chipset, which would be the platform for most upcoming mobile phones in 2021. The star phones belonging to brands like Xiaomi, LG, Samsung, and Sony would be developed based on this platform.
Now, Xiaomi, the China-based smartphone manufacturer, has become the first such company to reveal that it would be making use of the Snapdragon 888 chipset in its upcoming flagship smartphone.
Previously, news reports stated that Mi 11, Xiaomi’s flagship device, would be arriving into the markets sometime during January 2021. However, a tweet coming in from ‘Ice Universe’ states that the Mi 11 would be arriving sometime during December end itself.
Ironically, Xiaomi’s flagship smartphones normally arrive in February. Going by that trend, this seems a little unusual. However, because the Mi 11 is all set to undergo the network certification process, one can confidently say that the smartphone’s arrival date is not too long from now.
As per sources there are also some talks going on regarding the looks and specifications of Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship smartphone. The screen of the device would be sporting a curvy design at all of its four corners. A few leaks that had popped out earlier revealed the device to be sporting a display screen to the likes of Quad HD plus. Moreover, the front-facing camera would be sitting within a punch-hole area on the top of the display screen.
According to an image that appeared on Weibo, the camera’s design is also a little different. Two huge sensors are accompanying a small-sized camera, which consists of an LED flash. However, this image got removed soon after, leading to speculations that this may not be the correct image.
The display screen is expected to come with a refresh rate of 120Hz. That would be true for both Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro.
Suppose the news about Mi 11’s arrival during December end is true. In that case, it is high time that Xiaomi starts making and releasing teasers related to the same, which would be revealing the features embedded within the smartphone and its specifications at a glance. Going by these facts, one can expect an announcement from Xiaomi anytime now regarding the date on which the phone is supposedly arriving.
Qualcomm has gone on to develop the Snapdragon 888 by empowering the 5nm process. This mobile platform has been consolidated along with the third-generation 5G modem of Snapdragon X60, which is again compatible with mmWave and sub-6 5G. That is a fact for all bands that exist globally.
Apart from Xiaomi, a few other smartphone makers have also expressed that they would be making use of the Snapdragon 888 chipset in their mobiles. In the upcoming months, one would see flagship mobiles from well-known brands like Black Shark, Nubia Red Magic, OPPO, Realme, LG, Vivo, iQOO, and OnePlus being equipped with this chipset.
