ZTE’s Axon 20 5G to Arrive with an Under-Screen Camera

China-based telecommunications firm ZTE has not been doing well in the western regions of the world as it was boycotted by the US government sometime during the year 2018. However, this did not deter the firm from manufacturing novel and unique-featured smartphones.

In its next smartphone, also called the ZTE Axon 20 5G, the device will feature an under-screen camera. It is the first such 5G smartphone having such a feature to be produced on a large scale. An under-screen or under-display camera implies that the phone will not have any selfie cameras or hole-punches occupying the space on the topmost section of the screen.

The display screen is expected to be manufactured by Visionox, one of the largest OLED producers in China. The organization has already planned the complete research and development methodology of the under-screen camera. The firm has stated that it would be working towards adjusting the pixels around the camera lens. However, users who expect 4K or 1080p shots may not find this very fascinating.

The under-screen camera feature had initially appeared in Oppo’s smartphone device sometime in June 2019. At that time, a lot of technologies had come into play. A highly transparent material was used to develop the phone’s display. It was also essential to take care of the pixels present above the camera so that light could pierce through the screen as and when required. It has to be seen on how ZTE is developing this feature.

So far, no smartphone has started manufacturing gadgets with an under-display camera on a large scale basis. ZTE is the first such company to do so.

Expected specifications of ZTE Axon 20 5G

The initial teaser of ZTE Axon 20 5G revealed its name as ZTE A20 5G. Its model number was hinted to be ZTE-A2121. Based on these factors, the phone was expected to be brought on board with the Axon brand (since the model number of Axon 11 5G is A2021). Ultimately, the phone is indeed launching under the brand name of Axon.

Sometime during the last week, a phone that appeared to look like the ZTE Axon 20 5G appeared on TENAA’s website, a Chinese regulatory body. It ultimately gave rise to some speculations regarding the specifications of the device. The phone is expected to come with an OLED display measuring 6.92 inches (1,080×2,460 pixels). It would be coming up with a CPU featuring eight processor cores. Three RAM options would be available – 6GB, 8GB and 12 GB along with three storage options – 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.

The ZTE Axon 20 5G is expected to have four rear cameras, which would be inclusive of a 64-megapixel primary sensor along with an 8-megapixel sensor as well as two 2-megapixel sensors. The fore camera concealed under the screen is hinted to be a sensor having 32-megapixels. The Axon 20 5G smartphone is expected to be powered by a 4120mAh battery. It could turn out to be a bit tiny for a flagship device of this sort. The device would be coming on board on September 1. After its release, we will get to know what the phone’s specifications are.
